Position
Summary: Reporting to the Fabrication Manager, the Shipping Supervisor works with the Fabrication Supervisor, Warehouse Manager, and Field Supervision to ensure the safe and timely loading of pre-fabricated assemblies, raw material, tools and equipment to job sites or other storage locations. Supervising a team of CDL-licensed drivers, the Shipping supervisor establishes driver schedules and coordinates and prioritizes deliveries to ensure accurate, timely and safe deliveries.
Requirements:
Valid Driver's License. PREFERRED: Class-A CDL
/NOTE: Candidates without a Class-A license will be considered, and - if hired - be required to get a Class-A CDL with assistance from the company./

Effective communication skills in English (aural, verbal, written)
5 or more years of shipping and transportation experience. Preferred: Prior experience in manufacturing, construction or fabrication environment.
2 or more years of supervisory experience.
Strong attention to detail .

Able to respond to after-hours calls and work overtime as needed.
Strong negotiation skills.

Job Functions:
Ensures staged and unstaged materials, equipment, tools and assemblies are loaded onto company vehicles in proper order for delivery, while ensuring weight limits and proper load balancing and securement occur.
Resolve any issues pertaining to drivers or deliveries, such as returns or additional items needed. (Shipping Supervisor must review field receipts for accuracy and fix any issues).
Transfer intra-company mail between main office and Fab Shop and job sites.
Coordinates with field staff and storage locations to arrange for deliveries of critical and non-critical items according to available windows, while taking into account DOT Hours of Service (HOS) requirements for individual drivers.
Manages driving staff, including
Interviewing and selection of drivers (including road tests)
Performing training and maintenance of Driver Qualification files (DOT drug tests, medical exams, ensuring current licensure)
Reviewing and logging accidents, and coaching drivers as appropriate
Conducting performance reviews, recognizing and coaching drivers, making recommendations for promotion, etc.
Ensures proper maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles, in compliance with state and federal guidelines, including (but not limited to):
Inspection reports (DVIRs)
Keeping maintenance records
Resolving issues discovered under roadside inspections
Verifies that outbound shipments are accurate, and that bills of lading (B/Ls) are complete and accurate; follows-up with drivers to ensure job sites/storage facilities have signed-off for receipt of goods and materials.
Reviews field receipts for accuracy, and follows-up with appropriate supervision to resolve any delivery issues or driver issues.
Ensures accurate and timely processing of returns, and coordinates with Purchasing Department to ensure credits are received for returned goods.
Ensures good housekeeping and safety standards are met.
Partners with other departments/teams (Warehouse, Fabrication, Field, Purchasing, Safety) to delivery items as efficiently and safely as possible, while staying compliant (DOT, OSHA, etc.)
Maintain log of all products stored in fabrication yard and completed fabrication goods stored for future deliveries
Communicate exact delivery dates through communication with field personnel
Provide notices to all delivery sites one day prior to delivering.
Ensures good housekeeping and safety standards are met.
Partners with other departments/teams (Warehouse, Fabrication, Field, Purchasing, Safety) to delivery items as efficiently and safely as possible, while staying compliant (DOT, OSHA, etc.)
Performs other duties as assigned.
