Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a self-motivated RF/Microwave electrical engineer to join our embedded systems development team to deliver mission critical solutions for a variety of customers at our Columbia, MD location.
This position will focus primarily on the development of custom analog/RF circuit designs supporting custom antenna integration into embedded wireless systems.
Essential Functions:
Perform RF/analog circuit design and hardware engineering at the component level in support of antenna and embedded systems.
Develop methods for modifying systems to include new RF and wireless capabilities.
Work closely with RF, mechanical, and system/software engineering to meet challenging performance requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field, and a minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience OR a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

years of experience with RF circuit design for UHF to X-Band frequencies including RF switches, filters, diplexers, low noise amplifiers, power amplifiers and other general RF components.
Experience with lab test equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
Experience developing RF circuits using ADS or similar analysis tools with optimization techniques.
Understanding of key RF parameters (bandwidth, gain compression, intermodulation distortion, noise figure, spurious emissions) Active Top Secret/SCI with CI polygraph required.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Perform schematic capture and printed circuit board design work using ECAD tools such as Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics, or similar.
Working knowledge of RF communications including link budget analysis, modulation formats and general RF system architecture.
Experience with wireless communications systems such as satellite communications, cellular communications, RF beacons, and GPS.
Experience with power supply and digital hardware design to in support of embedded systems.
Experience with programmable logic devices such as CPLDs or FPGAs and familiarity with a variety of embedded processors.
Experience with battery operated lower power system design.
Experience with millimeter wave system design and testing including the use of integrated beamformer RFICs.
Familiarity with up/down converter modules for application to millimeter wave wireless systems.
Working knowledge of antenna performance metrics and familiarity with evaluating/selecting COTS antenna components.
Antenna simulation experience using HFSS or CST.
Experience in testing antennas in an anechoic chamber and/or mode-stirred chamber.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
