Neuromorphic Device and Circuit Engineer_Because this position requires a security clearance, US Citizenship is mandatory.
_The candidates would be joining a team focusing on low power electronic devices and circuits, with research involving the development of novel circuits based on emerging nonvolatile memory devices and in-compute memory cells for neuromorphic applications.
As the challenges with computing reaches its limits, due to power scaling challenges of today's transistor technologies, a desperate need for development of new approaches to high performance computing is needed.
In this research program we attempt to develop neuromorphic devices based on ferroelectric FETs and electrochemically gated devices.
Experience/Skills:
A motivated candidate with experience in neuromorphic device fabrication, testing, circuit modeling and design, and analog hardware prototyping is needed.
Required Skills:
Doctorate degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, materials science, physics, or equivalent/similarExperience with circuit design and device/circuit simulationExperience with electronic hardware prototypingExperience with publishing in technical journalsMust be a US citizen capable of holding a DoD security clearanceDesired Skills:

The candidate is expected to have an in-depth knowledge of device physics, circuit design, and simulations.
The candidate will work with the team to develop circuit designs for integration of neuromorphic devices into CMOS based platforms for brain inspired computing.
The candidate will also work with the device team at ARL to improve and optimize device of interest for integration and prototyping in develop circuit design and primitives.
The selected candidate will be an employee of General Technical Services LLC (GTS).
US citizenship is required(security clearance).
There may be occasional travel.

Located in Adelphi, MD, the US Army Research Laboratory's (ARL) Sensors and Electron Devices Directorate (SEDD) is the principal Army organization for research and development in sensors and electron devices.
SEDD conducts innovative research to provide the Army with affordable enabling technology in sensors, electronic warfare (EW), Quantum information sciences, position navigation and timing (PNT), Systems Biology, and Energy & Power.
SEDD coordinates technologies within the Army, other services and their laboratories, industry, and academia to leverage basic and applied research opportunities for the benefit of the Army.

To accomplish its mission SEDD utilizes several unique facilities, most notably the Zahl Physical Science Laboratory, a 349,000 square foot state-of-the-art electronics R&D facility.
This building has a 15,000 square foot clean room, dry room, high energy laser facilities, bio-inspired sensor laboratories and other research & development infrastructure.
