Responsibilities:
The System Administrator will perform the daily activities of configuration and operation of systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server based.
Activities will include but are not limited to:
Assist with the optimizing of system operation and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning
Provide assistance to users in accessing and using business systems
Perform day-to-day service operations on Linux, Unix, and Windows workstations; tape libraries; backup platforms; Sun Solaris, Linux Red Hat, and Mac OS software platforms; HP, Unix
and Windows virtualized servers
Perform general workstation and server administration; patch management; maintenance, upgrades, installations, troubleshooting, and decommissioning
Restore user workstation files; install and upgrade new workstations; and perform execution of security patches and Operating System upgrades
Register domain names, database entries and modifications for IP addresses
Label and store classified and unclassified file back-up tapes
Perform preventive maintenance
Maintain a database to record server uptime and downtime
Maintain the servers
Attend scheduled meetings and training related to facility operations, equipment, and software
Monitor the ticket system for work to be performed
Perform execution of security patches and Operating System upgrades
Performs backups
Recommend backup and recovery optimization solutions
Perform Lifecycle management
Maintain IP address records
Manage and operate a classified disaster recovery backup site
Must be flexible to work odd hours to accommodate after hours support (when required) and maintenance windows
The selected candidate should demonstrate the following:
Experience with UNIX or MS Windows system administration (Linux, Solaris)
Understanding of fundamental networking and distributed computing environment concepts
Performance tuning and capacity planning of servers (hardware and software levels)
Ability to write simple Perl/Shell scripts
Knowledge of Microsoft and Oracle (including installation and setup)
Knowledge of how C/C++, DBMS and Perl work together
Understanding of analytical needs and requirements
Knowledge of query syntax, data flows and of how to manipulate traffic
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent Customer Service skills
Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years experience. This experience should include:
Windows, UNIX, Linux, or HP systems administration
administering user accounts
performing server subsystem configuration, network management, installation of software, performing backups, configuration management and general system maintenance
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required. Familiarity with ITIL v3 is desired.
Physical Requirements:
Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk (90%). Requires sitting at a computer terminal for long periods of time (90%). There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work area walking moderate to long distances can sometimes be required. Must be able to lift and carry 15 lbs.
Work Environment:
Inside office environment. Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers and all levels of management (100%).
Equipment and Machines:
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, copier, and other general office equipment (100%). Ability to conduct evaluation of third and fourth generation or current state of the art computer hardware and software and its ability to support specific requirements, interfacing with other equipment and systems.
Attendance:
Tour of duty is between 6am and 8pm.Attendance is critical. Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday through Friday. Being prompt is important to provide continuous and on-going
service to customers. Attendance is important to maintain continuity of service. Work outside of normal duty hours may be required with as little as one hour advance notice. Overtime is infrequent, but important when required (1%).

Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must be able to obtain and retain a security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to obtain unescorted access to work areas. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
