JOB MISSION:
The Disability Representative I facilitates the application processes for Social Security Disability, Supplemental Security Income, and other SSA administered programs. The Disability Representative advocates for the client/patient through the arduous disability process and ensures that the client/patient understands and complies with all Social Security and Disability Determination Services requests timely throughout the multi-level appeal process in order to establish disability and subsequently Medicaid and/or Medicare eligibility.
JOB SCOPE:
The Disability Representative I is the client liaison with the local SSA District Offices and the State Disability Determination Agencies. The Disability Rep I interacts with the Nation SSA Tele-service Center to schedule appointments, medical providers, employers, schools, vital records, and other agencies to obtain documentation for the claim, and other facility staff to provide updates of case status. The Disability Rep I makes pursue decisions on referrals from the Eligibility and continually through the reconsideration appeal level. The Disability Representative is responsible for completing SSA forms associated with the application process, filing the first level appeal timely, tracking claims thru the disability determination process, and communicating requirements and expectations to the client/patient.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Accurate typing/data entry at a minimum of 30 wpm.
Familiarity with word processing and database programs.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
Elementary understanding of Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability benefit application and appeals process.
Ability to follow instruction and procedures and to organize work in a systematic and logical fashion.
Ability to pay close attention to detail.
Willingness to work as part of a team.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
