NOTE:

Non-veterans may be appointed to guard positions only if no qualified preference eligibles are available. Serves as a Security Guard in the Directorate of Emergency Services. Incumbent performs security guard duties in accordance with appropriate regulations to detect and prevent theft, damage, accident, trespass, sabotage and espionage and to enforce the security and safety regulations of the installation. Controls access of vehicles and pedestrians to installation. As required by instructions on force protection levels, conducts vehicle searches/inspections (to include cargo areas, engine compartments and undercarriages), in accordance with standing operating procedures. Inspects containers, personal property, documents on private, commercial and governmental vehicles, exercises tact, courtesy, and firmness in the performance of all force protection duties. The incumbent conducts foot or vehicle patrol of perimeters, roadways, parking and other high traffic areas as well as interior of shops, storage, administrative and other structures. Who May Apply:

Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes working with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the detection and prevention of theft, damage and/or trespass, performing vehicle searches, confiscating unauthorized items, directing traffic flow, verifying identification and controlling access to premises that provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
